Ayia Marina Chrysochous - Cyprus
Ayia Marina Chrysochous is a small village near Akamas. This is a virgin Mediterannean area with quiet hotels and restaurants. The rocks arrangement at the sea side of Ayia Marina is perfect for a few moments of relaxation and inspiration...if you are looking for a place to read a book or to paint a unique seaside, this is the perfect place ....
Tombs of the Kings - Paphos Sightseeing
If you want to do some time travel back in the ancient Paphos you should visit the Tombs of the Kings. This was a burial area for the elite Ptolemaic aristocrats during the time Cyprus was under the Ptolemaic Rule.

Churches of Cyprus - Παναγία Χρυσοσπηλιώτισσα
Cyprus is considered a Holy island. This is the place where Apostle Paul and Barnabas started their journey to spread the word about the truth, Jesus Christ. Since then, hundred of churches have been built and beside their religious importance, they are part of the island's history and identity.
Lately I visited a church found in a cave at Deftera village in Nicosia which is dedicated to the Mother of God. Visitors arrive from all over to pay respect to the icon that presents the Mother of God and pray for her intervention in their life.
I took several photos but I think these are better to see the Before and After of the cave through the decades.

Don't forget to visit the Paphos Harbour
A few weeks ago I visited the Harbour at Paphos and spent the afternoon at one of the coffee shops just over the sea. The harbour is a popular tourist attraction but also a meeting point for Cypriots.
It was built around 320 B.C. to assist the trading business and until today it is the one place that everyone goes during their visit at Paphos.
The Castle located at the Harbour, was initially built during the Byzantine period but it was destroyed and rebuilt several times since then by the numerous conquerors of the island.

Kakopetria at the foothills of the Troodos Mountains
Kakopetria is a village very famous to tourists due to the nice food (you have to try their trout!!!), good climate and scenery. I will let the pictures to tell the story :)
An urban legend claims that the name Kakopetria (bad rock) was due to an accident that occurred when a big rock (the rock in the picture) fell off a cliff and killed a couple during their wedding ceremony.

Lara Beach - Akamas Coastline
Lara beach is famous for the turtle nests of the Green Turtle (Chelonia mydas) and the Loggerhead Turtle (Caretta caretta).
Two years ago we experienced the hatch of a nest's eggs and admittedly it was one unique experience. I felt so blessed with that sight of small turtles running to the water and knowing that not all of them will survive ...
You can reach Lara beach easier with a 4x4 vehicle or with a simpler car in low speed.
If you visit Lara I surely hope you are lucky to witness a hatch!!! Please do send us a photo!!

Baths of Aphrodite - Latchi - Paphos
After you finish your tour at the Baths of Aphrodite you can go down the beach for relaxation.
This is mainly a pepples beach but with great clear water. I advise you bring a diving mask cause you should not miss the underwater scenery! You can swim in the water and reach the St George island with your mask and enjoy the underwater view.
Please make sure you know how to swim though before you do that!!!
